Ninja Creami Vanilla Protein Ice Cream

 

This is perfect on its own or to accompany a more indulgent treat.

Can you relate; you follow the plan all week but when the weekend is here you give into temptation & put your goals on hold until Monday.

This is extremely common. And on holidays, it gets that much more challenging. 

Here’s a hack to help! Have a smaller portion of that indulgent treat & fill most of your bowl (or plate) with a more supportive treat like this protein-rich & low-calorie Ninja Creami Vanilla Ice cream. What would this look like? Have a smaller slice of pumpkin pie & top it with this ice cream. OR have a bowl of ice cream followed by a smaller portion of a rich dessert.  

You can make this with either whey isolate or beef protein powder. The beef protein powder can give a bit of a creamier texture, depending on the brand. See the Notes for my go-to brands!

And the secret to a creamy yet low-calories ice cream? Use 30g of either ripe banana or cream cheese (non-dairy or regular). Cream cheese will provide a more neutral & vanilla-focused flavour.

Directions

  1. Add all ingredients to a large measuring cup or a blender. Blend until smooth. Use an immersion blender to combine everything if using a measuring cup. 

  2. Pour the contents into an empty Creami pint. Close the lid & freeze on a flat surface for 16-24 hours.

  3. When ready for your ice cream, place the pint container in the outer bowl & install the paddle into the outer bowl lid. Lock the lid onto the outer bowl. 

  4. Power on your Ninja Creami. Place the bowl on the Ninja Creami base & twist the handle right to raise the platform & lock it into place. Select ‘Ice Cream’.

  5. When processing is complete, open the lid & check the texture. If it’s too hard for you, respin for softer ice cream: open the lid, add a little bit of milk to the ice cream mix & reinstall the lid. Reinstall the bowl onto the machine & select ‘Lite Ice Cream’ or ‘Ice Cream’.

  6. When processing is complete, add your add-ins or toppings (see Notes below for ideas) or serve immediately! 

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups unsweetened almond milk

  • 1 scoop vanilla beef protein powder or whey isolate, see Notes

  • 30g cream cheese, regular or non-dairy, see Notes

  • ¼ tsp sea salt 

  • Optional: Now Foods Better Stevia English Toffee, ~3 drops or to taste 


Notes

Leftovers - This is best served immediately. BUT if you are an ice cream addict like me, buy extra Creami pints & double or quadruple this recipe so you always have ice cream ready to spin!

Don’t want that banana flavour? - Swap the banana for 30g of cream cheese, regular or non-dairy.

Optional Toppings or Add-ins - Toasted walnuts, sliced almonds, toasted shredded coconut, cacao nibs or dark chocolate chips!

Protein Powder - Schinoussa whey isolate, ATP Labs Supreme Beef Protein & Designs for Health PurePaleo Protein are solid options with great flavour & clean ingredients.

Cream Cheese - If you cannot do dairy, I highly recommend Violife’s cream cheese. Great taste, texture & clean ingredients!
