No need to sacrifice flavour when you’re reducing your calories and/or alcohol intake!

This refreshing Hibiscus Margarita can be made into a satisfying mocktail or tasty cocktail. And it’s so easy to make!

If you want to lose fat and keep it off for good, it’s important to be aware of your sugar and alcohol intake. This becomes especially important as we enter perimenopause & menopause because with hormonal changes, our blood sugar can naturally increase. And when our blood sugar is high, our bodies will hold onto fat. This is why I recommend that my clients swap sugary coolers and cocktails for low-sugar cocktails & mocktail like this tasty Hibiscus Margarita!

This is equally as good served as a cocktail with tequila or omit for a fresh and tasty mocktail!

Directions for Hibiscus Margarita

  1. Place cinnamon and hibiscus in a heat-proof jug or measuring cup.

  2. Pour boiling water over it & steep for 20-60 min.

  3. Strain then squeeze in the lime juice & stevia to taste. Allow to cool.

  4. Make your cocktail or mocktail: Fill an old fashioned glass with ice, pour 4oz of the cooled hibiscus tea into the glass, add the tequila if using, top with soda and garnish with your lime and orange slices. Enjoy!

Ingredients

For the tea:

  • 1/4 cup dried hibiscus

  • 1/2 tbsp cinnamon chips or 1 cinnamon stick

  • 4 cups water, boiling

  • 1/4 tsp stevia, or to taste

  • 1/2 lime

To make 1 cocktail/mocktail:

  • 1 1/2 oz tequila, optional

  • 2 oz soda water

  • slice of orange, dried orange rind and lime wedge to garnish

Notes

Upgrade your Mocktail! - Swap the tequila for non-alcoholic mezcal from Fluere.

Don’t like Stevia? - Swap the stevia for a little maple syrup or honey.
