The BEST Turkey Burgers

 

These burgers are juicy, delicious & sooooo easy to make!

Lean ground turkey is high in protein but low in calories. This makes it a great addition to your diet if you want to:

  •  Put on Muscle: Aim for a daily intake of ~1.2-1.6 grams of protein per kg of body weight for optimal muscle growth & recovery. Lean poultry is high in protein but has little fat which helps to hit that target!

  •  Reduce cravings: Adequate protein helps to reduce levels of ghrelin (aka our ‘hunger hormone’) and increases our satiety hormones.

  • Lose fat & retain muscle: Protein has a higher thermic effect than fat or carbs, meaning it burns more calories when we consume it. And combined with resistance training, eating protein can reduce muscle loss when eating in a caloric deficit.

The best part about this recipe? They take only 5 minutes to prep!

 
 

Directions

  1. Add the BBQ sauce & ground turkey in a bowl & mix until just combined.

  2. Form into evenly sized patties & sprinkle generously on both sides with salt.

  3. Heat a small amount of oil in a large frying pan over medium heat.

  4. Add the patties & fry for ~7 min per side, or until it reaches an internal temperature of 180 degrees F.

  5. Serve on a bun, over a salad, in a wrap – anything goes!

Ingredients

  • 2lb lean ground turkey

  • ¼ cup low-sugar BBQ sauce (my favourite is Good Food for Good BBQ Sauce)

  • 2 tsp sea salt

  • Extra virgin olive oil

     

Notes

Toppings -  Go classic with lettuce, ketchup, mustard, tomato, onion & a pickle. Or switch it up with mayo, tzatziki or guacamole!
